Long time no see! But there is news!

http://www.tor.com/stories/2014/03/the-goblin-emperor-chapters-1-4-excerpt-katherine-addison

In case you haven't heard, Ace dropped Sarah Monette and Tor picked her up but under a different name, Katherine Addison. She has a new book coming out on April 1st (and Amazon better have it on my door step tomorrow)! Above is a link to the first four chapters. Please discuss!

The only trouble I have is pronouncing the names of the Court and some of the names of the characters. But I really like it so far. I feel so bad Maia and all the confusion he's going through. I like the way they talk, kinda reminds me of Kay Brightmore from Corambis.

Ugh, I really want to read this, but it's so expensive ;A; (it's already on my wishlist since ages, though... but why does amazon say it'll be out in May? Anyway, I'll still have to wait for it to get a bit cheaper :/)

I absolutely adore her writing style, it's fantastic.
I also agree with you, the way she uses older speech patterns - wonderful. ♥

LIBRARY. See if they will buy it. :) I save my birthday amazon gift certificates. So glad I did. I know that isn't an option for everyone.

If only ;_; Not in my country. They only buy books in English that are really popular (and fantasy only the usual suspects: Tolkien, Rowling, GRR Martin - basically everything that has a movie adaptation, but the rest... grmpf), so unless this one becomes a huge bestseller (which, of course, we hope for), no chance.

But I'm sure it'll get cheaper eventually and as you say, there are always gift certificates, perhaps I can get someone to give me one for Easter, instead of chocolate ;)

Well boo to your library. Do they do inter (between) library loans? If I can't find it in my library I can search for it in another and have it sent to my library.

Yeah :/ That's the downside of living in a rather idyllic area, I guess... -_-
Hmm, I's have to ask them, but I'll definitely keep that in mind. Thanks.

But first... another wonderful book ;D

Thanks for the heads up! Gonna wait for the paperback version. Hardcovers are harsh on my small hands :|

Book pillow? I usually keep my books on a pillow propped up to read. Sometimes the strain of a heavy book screws with my hands in a weird way and they start to shake/twitch uncontrollably. :(
